Museum of the Americas

Museum of the Americas

Located only a few blocks from the Weatherford Town Square, the this musuem is within walking distance from other Weatherford attractions, and well worth the visit. Although it seems small from the outside, this museum is packed full of beautiful Native American artifacts, and you can easily spend an hour or more just absorbing the diversity of their collection.

If you’re interested in local Native American history, the Museum of the Americas is the place to find it. One area of the museum displays a large amount of Kickapoo and Alabama-Coushatta artifacts. But not only do they have Texas Indian artifacts, they also have exhibits from all over North America, and South America. Some of these exhibits are permanent, but they also host many traveling exhibits throughout the year too.

This is a FREE ADMISSION museum, but they do rely on purchases through their gift shop to support the museum. Exhibits change on a regular basis, so visit often since there is sure to always be something new!

The museum is open from 10 AM to 5 PM Tuesday through Saturday. They also will schedule a tour by appointment. They will be closed August 1st through September 1st 2008, and December 25th 2008 through January 31st 2009
