Historic Driving Tour

Weatherford Historic Driving Tour:

If you love history and beautiful buildings, you must take this historic tour.

The tour starts out on the Weatherford Town Square, then proceeds down main street for a look at some historical businesses. Next you will see the Texas & Pacific Railroad Station, built in 1879. Then, the tour passes the Greenwood Cemetery, where famous figures such as Mary martin and Oliver Loving are resting.

Soon, the tour starts winding through the residential streets past beautiful gingerbread Victorian homes, many of which were built in the 1800’s. Along the way your journey will lead you to the grand gates of Chandor Gardens, a 3.5 acre garden oasis complete with a 5600 sq. ft. mansion. Stop in and take stroll through this lush botanical garden complete with waterfalls, Chinese statues, and ponds full of Koi. When you are rejuvenated, hop back in your car, and finish the driving tour by visiting some of the grand 1800 era churches.

For detailed driving instructions, or a map of the walking tour, and historical markers, pick up a Greenwood Cemetery Map and a Walking Tour map at the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce.
