This park, located only a few blocks from downtown Weatherford Texas, is a favorite gathering place for young and old alike.
This park has much to offer, but its main attraction is its public swimming pool! This outdoor pool is only open during the summer, but is well worth the wait. There is a splash area for toddlers, 2 waterslides, and several diving boards. The pool is quite large and a good portion of it is shallow, which is great for young swimmers.
During the summer months this pool is the home of Weatherford’s own swimming team. Plus, every year, parents flock to sign up their children for the great swimming lesson program that is offered at this pool.
A word to the wise: If you plan on registering your children for these lessons, plan on being at the community building early, and waiting in line for at least an hour! This is a very popular program, but is well worth the wait.
Then at the end of the year, they celebrate closing the pool by hosting an annual Dog Daze of Summer where all the local pooches are invited to take a dip & cool off.
Cherry Park is also home to Weatherford’s annual Movies in the Park. This park has a natural grassy amphitheater where the locals gather one day every week in June to watch family movies under the stars.
This is a great time to get together with family and friends. Concession stands are available during this FREE event; just bring a blanket & chairs and enjoy!

Other great features of this park worth mentioning are the basketball court, and the large play area with plenty of playground equipment to entertain the children.
There is also a great walking trail that is a favorite of the locals – 4 laps around is one mile, and there is a small incline and decline to get your heart rate up. It’s not the biggest park in Weatherford, but its jam packed with activities for everyone, which makes it great for the whole family.
This park also has a pavilion, a gazebo, and a community building available for reservation.
